Mountain is on fire (???)!
Cloud is still in the lead, but that's a bit like SKT winning Worlds, what's new?

What's more exciting, is that this week mountain has made a crazy showing and has moved up to 2nd place from the last place that they were in during Weeks 1-3! With BBQ this week, we're expecting things to really shake up!

At the end of the year, the winning house will once again be giving away a bunch of awesome prizes, including a RARE Teemo statue! We'll also be rewarding members who make significant contributions to their houses, so don't give up even if you're not in the winning house!

Battle Royale – The Battle for Worlds Qualification

With the release of Patch 7.16, Patch 7.18 aka “Worlds Patch” is only a short time away. This can only mean one thing, the fight for Worlds qualification is entering the red-hot stage. With LCK, LMS and NALCS proceeding to the first week of playoffs, it will certainly be a time of many heartbreaks and sighs of relief as teams battle their ways to their regional championships in order to secure a ticket to the world stage.

In the LCK, the first match of the playoffs involved the showdown between SKT T1 and the Afreeca Freecs. Whilst the quality of SKT is undisputed, their recent form has been a worry with uncharacteristic mistakes forcing them to finish a lowly 4th in the regular season. Whilst Afreeca Freecs is placed 5th only, they do boast former SKT toplaner MaRin as well as the LCK Summer Regular Season joint MVP, Kuro. It will certainly be an exciting intro in an exciting playoff schedule involving other Korean powerhouses such as KT Rolster, Samsung Galaxy and Longzhu Gaming.

In the LMS, the competition is equally as fierce as the LCK if not more so due to Flash Wolves' guaranteed entry to the Worlds' stage, leaving only one vacancy to be filled. It will certainly be interesting as traditional Taiwanese powerhouses such as ahq e-Sports Club and J-Team (formerly known as Taipei Assassins, Champion of Season 2 Worlds) raises the curtain on the fight to gain a chance to compete for the Summoner’s Cup.

Finally, the NA LCS is showcasing one of the most exciting playoffs in a long time with former NA LCS champions Cloud9 and Counter Logic Gaming going up against Team Dignitas and Team Envy respectively. Whilst fans would certainly hope to see a repeat of the C9 Impact that dominated the playoffs in 2016 Summer, there is a lot of attention riding on LirA, jungler of Team Envy. LirA has been performing a one man show to help Team Envy make the playoffs, made all the more remarkable since it was only 2017 Spring split that Team Envy had to survive a gruelling relegation tournament to remain in the NA LCS.  It will be exciting to watch whether LirA can continue to cast his magic and rally the team to a Cinderella style ending to the season.

Writer’s Pick for the games
SKT T1 3 – 1 Afreeca Freecs
Ahq e-Sports 3 – 1 J-Team
Cloud9 3 – 2 Team Dignitas
Counter Logic Gaming 3 – 1 Team Envy

See you in the next edition.

LoLSoc Went Bowling!

Thank you to everyone who came to bowling night last Wednesday! From hardstuck in gutter elo to three-strikes-in-a-row high elo our members proved that we're just as diverse at bowling as we are in League of Legends.

A mega congratulations to Christopher "MegaBlacker" Bebawi for winning the $25 RP lucky draw!

If you missed out, make sure to keep updated via our Facebook page and newsletter and come to more of our fun events in future!
Thanks to everyone that presented their bowling mechanics to their peers last week - it was truly a fun experience for all of us. Also good luck to those that signed up to the Rumble, it'll be a tough tournament with some of the elos I'm seeing in the database.

Stay tuned for further events and Esports news updates!
